Competitive Research Awards
The EM MSIPP Research Awards are granted to Minority Serving Institutions (MSIs) to fund STEM research projects that support DOE-EM’s mission. Award recipients are partnered with a DOE National Laboratory to support research activities.
To be considered eligible, an MSI must:

- Have enrolled one minority group that constitutes at least 25% of total undergraduate enrollment, or in which all minority students constitute at least 50% of the total undergraduate enrollment.
EM MSIPP Research Awards cover applied research and related activities in STEM that support defined DOE-EM needs in site restoration, deactivation and decommissioning, tank waste and artificial intelligence. A detailed description of the research areas will be included with the Expression of Interest and the Request for Proposal.
|Site Restoration||Soil and Groundwater Remediation|

|Tank Waste||Tank Waste and Waste Processing|
|Artificial Intelligence||Cutting Edge Airborne Methane Detection Technology|
How To Apply
An institution interested in submitting a proposal must respond to the Expression of Interest (EOI) solicitation. Following the review of all EOIs, Request for Proposal (RFP) will be sent to all eligible MSIs. The RFP will contain detailed information regarding the priority research topic areas, proposal requirements, and the application deadline.
