Position

Deborah Bowling is the Chief Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Accessibility Officer at Savannah River National Laboratory. Deborah leads SRNL’s strategy to strengthen DEIA programs and advance the Laboratory’s efforts to foster a respectful and inclusive culture that reflects diversity, promotes equity, and builds community. Deborah believes in the mantra “together we can do great things” and through sustainable engagement and meaningful action, employees will be inspired as we put science to work.

Experience

Deborah joined SRNL in January 2023 and brings over 30 years of progressive HR experience with specific expertise leading inclusion and diversity programs. Prior to joining SRNL, Deborah held the positions of Director for the Diversity and International Division at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Senior Manager at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. In these positions Deborah developed and led inclusion and diversity initiatives, expanded and provided governance to employee resource groups, and established analytic data and metrics to influence change. In addition to her roles at DOE national laboratories, Deborah has held various leadership roles in the green building construction industry. Deborah is a certified Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practitioner through the University of South Florida Muma College of Business, and is a certified Prosci Change Management professional.
