Position

Gregory R. Cefus is the SRNL Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives. He will be focused on building and positioning the laboratory to achieve its strategic goals and objectives. He will lead various initiatives driving efficient and effective operations and realizing continuous improvements.

Experience

Greg previously served as the SRNL Deputy Associate Laboratory Director and Chief Operating Officer for Global Security. Preceding this, Greg served in various roles at SRNL, including as Deputy Associate Laboratory Director for National Security and as the Acting Associate Laboratory Director for National Security, and was responsible for program growth and execution across the Department of Energy, the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and other U.S. Government national security organizations. He also served in various roles within the U.S. Government, including the Director of the NNSA’s Office of Global Radiological Threat Reduction and the Director of the Weapons of Mass Destruction and Asymmetric Threats Division in DOE’s Office of Intelligence and Counterintelligence. Greg began his career more than 30 years ago as a technical staff member at SRNL. Greg is the recipient of the NNSA’s Administrators Award of Excellence for his exemplary service to NNSA and received commendations for outstanding contributions and exception service to the U.S. Intelligence Community.
