SRNL’s History in Pictures

Each month throughout 2024, as SRNL celebrates its 20^th anniversary as a national laboratory, historical photographs, media headlines and other visual nostalgia from SRNL’s history will be featured. While the emphasis will be on the last 20 years, SRNL’s history during its antecedent years will also be highlighted, including Savannah River Laboratory (SRL) from the early 1950s-1992 and Savannah River Technology Center (SRTC) from 1992-2004.

This month, featured are headlines from Savannah River Plant News, SRS’s own internal newspaper, from 1969. SRS was known as the Savannah River Plant (SRP) from its inception until 1989. Although this paper covered news from all of SRP, SRL was highlighted prominently.
