Bio

Suzy Fowler is the director of Environmental Safety, Health and Quality Assurance (ESH&QA) at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL). She is SRNL’s senior leader for implementation of effective ESH&QA programs.

Fowler’s previous experience involved leading research and operational support in high hazard environments, both within national laboratories as well as commercial enterprises. She has managed programs and teams related to operations, infrastructure, assurance, integrated safety management, project management, strategy, and performance. She served as director of Infrastructure and Operations at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC). In that role, she developed and implemented processes to improve the organization’s performance in safety, reliability and mission execution. During her tenure, NBACC received the highest performance evaluation for operations ever awarded by the Department of Homeland Security. Prior to NBACC, she worked for Oak Ridge National Laboratory in different leadership positions, where she helped to enhance the organization’s ability to deliver successful research and development outcomes.

Fowler also has extensive experience with large proposal capture and multi-partner research collaborations, as well as with enhancing the management of requirements, programs, infrastructure, and operational discipline. Additionally, she serves on the Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) Operations Committee, which advises Brookhaven National Lab and the BSA board on operational issues.

Fowler has a Bachelor of Science in organizational behavior from the University of San Francisco, and a Master of Science in human resource management from Golden Gate University.
