V. Suzy Fowler

Suzy Joined SRNL in 2022 and brings more than 30 years of experience leading activities in high hazard environments, with a legacy of leading teams to achieve desired results. Her experience spans both research and operational support areas in national laboratories and commercial enterprise. She has a proven track record of achievement in many areas having managed programs and teams related to operations, infrastructure, assurance, integrated safety management, project management, strategy and performance. Suzy has consistently improved the performance of teams and organizations by developing positive relationships that result in successful partnerships with stakeholders to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes. Previously, Suzy was Director of Infrastructure and Operations at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center (NBACC) where she developed and implemented processes to improve the organization’s performance in terms of safety, reliability and mission execution. During her tenure, NBACC received the highest performance evaluation for operations ever awarded by the Department of Homeland Security. Before that she worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory in a number of progressively responsible leadership positions where she developed and implemented strategies that enhanced the organization’s ability to deliver successful research and development outcomes. Suzy has extensive experience in large proposal capture and multi-partner research collaborations, as well as enhancing management of requirements, programs and infrastructure, and instilling operational discipline.
