
Michael Romero
Bio
As the Operations and Facilities director at Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL), Michael Romero is responsible for overseeing operations, facility management and services, maintenance, facility engineering, nuclear safety, and project management.
Romero is an accomplished leader with more than 30 years of mission support, operational, and leadership experience in challenging, goal-oriented environments, including oversight of facility maintenance and infrastructure, ES&H, nuclear, performance assurance, and environmental management operations. Prior to joining SRNL, Michael has held multiple leadership positions at Sandia National Laboratories, Argonne National Laboratory, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and N3B-Los Alamos, with experience operating under DOE Office of Science and NNSA national laboratories and Environmental Management legacy cleanup operations.
Romero has a Masters of Engineering degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Mexico and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Engineering from New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. He also holds a certification as a Project Manager Professional.
