Bio

Jennifer Palmer has served as SRNL’s director of institutional planning since June 2025. In this role, Palmer is responsible for providing vision, leadership, management and oversight of institutional planning for the lab and furthering SRNL’s mission objectives. She also is responsible for collaborating with the leadership team to develop and integrate SRNL’s research and operations strategies.

Palmer has more than 33 years of experience in the national laboratory network with time at both Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. She’s previously held managerial positions in a variety of areas including laboratory directed research and development, technology transfer, science and technology partnerships, business development and communications. Her experience also crosses several areas of research including integrated energy systems, advanced manufacturing, environmental sciences and defense manufacturing.

Palmer holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Management from Tusculum University in Greenville, Tenn. She also holds a Certificate in Technology Commercialization from the University of Texas at Austin and a Graduate Certificate in Systems Engineering from the University of Tennessee.
