Bio

Johney Green Jr. serves as director of Savannah River National Laboratory, and is president and CEO of Battelle Savannah River Alliance, LLC. Green is responsible for the management, operation and strategic direction of the laboratory. SRNL is a multi-program national laboratory with an annual operating budget of about $400 million, and the lab is leading research and development institution for the Offices of Environmental Management and Legacy Management at the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Weapons and Nonproliferation programs for the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA).

Dr. Green’s Monday afternoon panel focuses on The Genesis Mission – the premier US scientific initiative the DOE is leading to revolutionize scientific discovery by integrating artificial intelligence (AI), powerful supercomputers, and vast government datasets in a unified platform for accelerated research in areas like energy, materials, medicine and national security. The DOE Office of Environmental Management is set to play an important role in the Genesis Mission, both by benefiting from AI advances to identify improved ways to conduct cleanup and by helping to make assets available that can be used to build out US digital infrastructure. In addition, the DOE Office of Nuclear Energy will serve an integral role, both by benefiting from Genesis Mission-supported innovation in advanced nuclear and helping to fuel power needs.
